How do you create an impressive exterior?

An exterior rendering is a way to visualize an architectural design to a client. Imagine that an architect has an idea for a house that he wants to realize, or he needs to present the project to the client before construction begins. For example, when creating drawings, he may envision a terrace where people spend their free time or the facade of a villa against a tropical landscape. It is important for the architect to demonstrate the building at different times of the day to emphasize all its advantages. In such cases, high-quality 3D visualization is necessary. So how to achieve an excellent result?

1. Architectural sketch.

At the initial stage of work, the architect is provided with a sketch. 3D artists can add small details or make adjustments. The sketch allows us to assess which architectural solutions are effective and which ones need to be finalized.

2. Architectural drawing.

The quality realization of the architect's ideas depends on the drawings. The project plan serves as a basis for exterior visualization. It helps to understand the environment of the object and accurately recreate it. For marketing campaigns and presentations, a blueprint plan is sufficient, but working with contractors requires more detailed documents.

A construction team needs a detailed 3D visualization that is based on construction drawings. These drawings should be provided in CAD format so that 3D artists can study the design in detail.

3. Revit 3D model and BIM design.

Once the technical portion of the project is complete, you should begin creating CAD drawings to produce a detailed exterior visualization. It is important to focus on specific BIM objects, structures and models that serve as the basis for creating a realistic exterior.

4 Textures and material samples.

To achieve realistic visualization, architects provide material samples of the materials that will be used in construction: materials, colors, and finishes. The quality of these references should be high so that the artists can accurately recreate all textures and details. Once construction is complete, architects can use the renderings in a portfolio or to showcase on social media.

5. Mood and Lighting.

Lighting and mood are key elements of an exterior rendering. They directly affect the atmosphere and emotional perception of the client. In the terms of reference you should specify the characteristics of lighting: type of sky, weather conditions and so on. Architects can send references with examples of how the object should be, for example, photos with evening and daylight.
